WHAT ARE LIGHTROOM PRESETS?

Lightroom presets are image filters (that use a set of pre-saved settings) used to edit your photos to look brighter, richer, and generally more amazing.

With presets, it’s super easy to edit your photos (sometimes with just one-touch!) with certain aesthetics and colours which just aren’t achievable with other mobile photo editing apps such as VSCO.

This helps us save bucketloads of time when editing new travel pictures and it can help you achieve a similar look and aesthetic without having to learn editing techniques.

We’ve used Adobe Lightroom for Desktop for over five years, and have developed our own custom Lightroom presets during this time - it’s these presets that we use to edit all of our Instagram and Blog photos and that you can buy from us now.

Mobile presets used with the Lightroom CC mobile app, which is available for both Apple and Android devices.

After years of editing our travel photos, we’ve developed a pretty unique style which you guys, our readers and followers, have told us countless times that you love.

From portraits in India to the mountain peaks of Nepal, or the famous blue train in Sri Lanka to the history-laden streets of Italy, our presets are designed to make your images POP, and provide colourful lasting memories from your travels.

WILL THE COMMON WANDERER PRESETS FIT MY STYLE?

We’d like to think our presets will fit your style, but everyone is different.

Our presets are rich in colours and contrast, and are built from travelling to some of the most colourful, beautiful destinations in the world.

We recommend taking a look at the photos on our blog and Instagram, all of which have been edited using these very presets, to judge whether they suit your own photography and editing style.

We shoot in many different situations; from bright, sandy beaches, to dark, mountainous regions. That’s the nature of our job, so we’ve created presets to work in just about any light.

Although they’ll definitely work best during the golden hours of sunrise and sunset (the best times for photography!), these presets, with just a few little tweaks, will make any photo look amazing.

WHAT’S INCLUDED IN THE PRESET PACKS?

Each of our preset packs include the unique files used by Lightroom (XML for Desktop, or DNG for Mobile) for presets.

Which preset pack you choose will determine the amount and type of files you receive. Our preset packs also come with a downloadable installation guide which includes editing tips and hacks.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MOBILE AND DESKTOP PRESETS?

Mobile presets are designed specifically to use with Lightroom Mobile CC. They’re essentially a one-click filter to make your photos look amazing, using the JPEG images that mobile phones produce, such as iPhone photos.

Our mobile presets are destined to be used only with the Lightroom Mobile CC app, and are not compatible with the desktop version.

Desktop presets are designed to work with Adobe Lightroom Classic, a desktop program that professional photographers use to edit their photos (which requires a monthly subscription).

Desktop presets work best on RAW photos (large files that cameras produce) or high-resolution JPEGS. These presets allow you to edit faster, and with a common aesthetic.

WHICH APP DO I NEED TO USE FOR YOUR MOBILE PRESETS?

The Common Wanderer mobile presets are designed to be used on the free Lightroom CC app, which can be downloaded in the App Store or Google Play.

WHEN DO I RECEIVE YOUR PRESETS AFTER I PURCHASE THEM?

We’ll send out the selected preset pack/s immediately after you purchase them, along with our installation guide.

IS THE LIGHTROOM MOBILE APP FREE?

YEP! The Lightroom app is free to download and you don’t need a subscription to use it.

If you’re an Adobe Creative Cloud subscriber, you can sync your desktop and mobile accounts for ease of use (sign up to Adobe Creative Cloud here).

IS USING LIGHTROOM MOBILE CC DIFFICULT?

Lightroom Mobile CC is easy to use, even for beginners. If you’ve used Snapseed, VSCO, or even Instagram’s editing features, you should find it fairly easy.

That being said, it can take time and practice to understand how to make tweaks and adjustments to your photos.

We’ve included a simple guide for how to use Lightroom Mobile CC, set up our custom presets, how to apply the presets, and some super useful adjustment techniques to help you guys.

DO THE COMMON WANDERER MOBILE PRESETS WORK ON IPHONE PHOTOS?

Yep, they certainly do!

They’ve been created with iPhones in mind, as we use them both on a daily basis. Our presets will quickly enhance your iPhone images with one click. They will also work exactly the same across Android photos too.

DO I NEED A LIGHTROOM SUBSCRIPTION ON MY COMPUTER TO USE YOUR DESKTOP PRESETS?

Yes, you’ll need to purchase a monthly subscription to Adobe Lightroom through the Adobe Creative Cloud.

Adobe Lightroom Classic is the editing software professional photographers use to edit their RAW files, and is a super powerful program for any photographer. If you’re serious about photography, consider purchasing a subscription.

If you just want to use the free Lightroom Mobile CC app, consider purchasing our ‘mobile only’ preset packs.

WHAT ABOUT EDITING RAW OR JPEG IMAGES ON THE PHONE?

We often transfer RAW images directly from our cameras to our phones, and then edit on Lightroom Mobile CC.

The quality is much better, and these presets are simple to use on RAW photos.

Most mobile phones use jpeg images, and our mobile presets also work perfectly on them.

IF I BUY YOUR PRESETS, WILL MY PHOTOS LOOK THE SAME?

Yes and no.

For the most part, if using our presets, your images will have contrast, vibrant colours, and pop, especially when applied to mobile photos.

But there are so many factors that determine the end result, that they will look different. For example, lighting plays a huge part in photography - golden hour is the best time to photograph, so shooting in the middle of a bright summers day might mean your photos look different.

Also, skin tones and hair colour differ greatly from person to person, so what works on Mim might not work on you. And then there’s the differences in your camera sensor and different lenses, or mobile devices.

Either way, you can make adjustments to your photos through Lightroom or Lightroom mobile that will help get the outcome you desire, on both mobile photography and if you’re shooting in RAW formats.
