25 incredible photos that will make you want to visit Swedish Lapland

Forests ablaze with autumn, picturesque mirrored lakes, and gorgeous timber cabins: here are 25 Swedish Lapland pictures to fuel your wanderlust

In early October, we travelled to the far, far north of Sweden to road trip through forests ablaze with autumn glory, picturesque mirrored lakes, and gorgeous timber cabins straight out of a fairytale in Swedish Lapland.

This area is known for its enchanting winter landscapes; a Christmassy snow globe full of snow-laden fir trees, frozen lakes perfect for ice skating, and the green lights of the aurora borealis dancing overhead.

But the magic of Lapland doesn’t melt away in the warmer months, far from it. Instead, the endless woodlands and glassy lakes burst from their hibernation with new life, transformed into lush landscapes with a blaze of colour.

In the cooling season of Autumn, the trees are flushed with warm colours and clear days bring soft golden sunshine. With winter just around the corner, now is the time of slowing, of lighting the first fires again, and foraging for wild food in the forests to restock the larder.

It was this promise of cosiness and the call of a week adventuring through nature that brought us to Europe’s last remaining wilderness, and we certainly weren’t left wanting.

Here are our favourite photos from Swedish Lapland to inspire your next travels.
